Just in case all this Summer is too much for you, here is something really dark.
I found this chair in a local antiques store, another unloved beauty.
I considered keeping something of the current spirit of the piece with this mallard blue stripe, but the vertical stripes worked against the curves of the chair.
I was imagining something like this, but I don’t have time to do a room right now… So here’s the chair!
I really love it:
How great is that?
One thing about this fabric - the same goes for all of the prints we do on airo-washed linens - the color is very difficult to capture well on camera. There’s a two-tone quality to the linen that just eludes the lens. You have to get a sample in your hand and see it. Feel it too - this is gorgeous, thick, heavy linen, with a special softness.
We’re coming into August and everyone is vanishing for a while, so I’ve picked a very small upholstery project for my next chair of the month. But the devil is in the detail…
